DOCS / TROUBLESHOOTING

Recover without interrupting the coding task.

The command is missing

Verify the plugin is enabled in the correct host and supported version. Finish active work, restart the host and start a fresh session. A running session can retain old plugin code after an update.

Learn opens but there are no opportunities

Confirm learning is On and attached to the intended coding chat. Give the coding agent a substantive task. Use Find learning in current work to request a check. A deliberate no-suggestion result is different from broken observation or a provider error.

The coding model works but learning fails

Check Learn settings for model access and usage. A working coding connection does not guarantee every model accepts independent learning calls. Select an available model on the existing connection; do not create a new API key as a default fix.

There is no invitation

On Codex, check native hook review separately from plugin activation. Verify learning is not off, paused or recently dismissed. Notice delivery and an offer visible inside Learn are different events. Report the host/version and whether an offer was present inside the panel.

Claude session is missing

Use local Code in Claude.app, enable the bundled plugin/module and start a new session. Refresh chats. Separate CLI subscription login is an optional fallback, not required for the normal bridge.

Old content stays on screen

Use Dismiss to set it aside. Use Find learning in current work for fresh suggestions. An unfinished lesson or draft may be preserved while new opportunities appear separately.

Diagnostics

Open Learn settings → Diagnostics. Codex and Claude companion logs are in their respective directories under ~/.local/share/dontdumb. Never delete a writer lock while its process is alive.

When reporting, include host/version, installation method, approximate timing, expected behavior and sanitized diagnostics. Do not upload whole state files, credentials, private companion URLs, code or personal answers.
